ALERT: High Winds and Potential Power Outages

The National Weather Service has forecast weather conditions including high winds and heat beginning Friday morning that may result in a risk of fallen trees and power lines in the Santiam Canyon, Silver Creek and Scotts Mills areas.

In response, regional power companies MAY choose to execute a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) as a preventative measure to mitigate the danger of potential fallen or damaged power lines during this time. This means that power could be shut off for some areas as early as Friday at midnight for twenty-four to forty-eight hours.

In light of the high heat this weekend in the region, all members in the area are encouraged to prepare now for any unplanned outage and ensure they have adequate water, cooling, and power resources.
